 official : * ERASURE - "OTHER PEOPLE'S SONGS" *

The brand new album from Vince Clarke and Andy Bell, due for release on Mute in February 2003.

The album features a selection of cover versions of the duo's favourite songs and was recorded over the last year with producer Gareth Jones [the co-producer of 'Wild!', 'Erasure' and 'Cowboy'].

The tracklisting has not yet been finalised, but the album is likely to include versions of 'Ave Maria', 'Ebb Tide', 'Solsbury Hill', 'When Will I See You Again', 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling' and a reworking of one Erasure classic. Dave Bascombe [who mixed 'Chorus', parts of 'Erasure' and the recent cover of 'A Little Respect' by Wheatus] has worked on some of the tracks.

More details will follow shortly. In addition, we will shortly be pleased to announce Erasure's plans for their first UK tour in five years.

Yes - they're back! (© eis) |

news of the last month: you can buy a dvd of of a dirty little business (aka Good Vibrations aka Merchants Of Venus). It features Andy Bell in a short cameo as 'Porno Director' and a soundtrack by Vince. the soundtrack includes a version of Love Affair which is different to the album-version. watch the trailer.

the covers-album will be released in early 2003 (hopefully).

Vince and Andy are thinking about writing new material (whatever that means). |

official : Erasure are currently putting the finishing touches to their 'covers' album, which should be completed ready for a release early next year. (© eis) |

There were tentative plans for videos for both 'Moon & The Sky' and 'Alien'. If they had gone ahead, Vince would almost certainly have directed them, after he enjoyed putting together 'Freedom' so much.
'Moon & The Sky' would have based around a rock/heavy metal band performance, the band composed of Vince, Andy and possibly Vince's 'Radioactivators' collaborator, Nigel Lewis, amongst others.
'Alien' would have been based around puppets, with the song being performed by a puppet Andy and a puppet Vince. These puppets may have actually been built. |

<< you can't hold a good man down - Andy keeps coming up with new tracks to do, and we have just completed one more classic, with one more to finish in June. >> |

27/5/02
official : Vince, Andy and Gareth have reconvened to record more material for their forthcoming album of cover versions. The band's intention is to record more songs than are necessary and to only use the strongest tracks for the album. It looks as though work will continue into the late/summer early autumn, which means that - all going to plan - the album will be released at some point early in 2003. Until the album is finished - and Erasure aren't working to a precise deadline - it won't be added to Mute's release schedule. (© eis) |
